Natural Scotland on TV & Pre-Xmas Projects

It really pleases me to say you can expect to hear me again in the latest 'give it another life' TV campaign for Natural Scotland in the coming weeks. Also, I'm in the midst of another project with M8 Media, this time on-camera presentation for a corporate video...

AND I've been working on a new e-learning project with the team at Junction 18. Needless to say, the 12 days before Christmas have turned out to be very busy! I'll be signing off for a festive break on Friday 23rd December...and will be back to work on 4th December!

Meanwhile, if you have any projects you'd like to book in the next few days, just give me a call or drop me an email!

...the deeper secret

"Deciding to seek what you want in your life means being prepared to leave your comfort zone."

"When you strive for truth in your life, the universe will encourage you by giving you a sign: stillness."

"If we knew our true power, we would know that
we absolutely can change the world, starting with ourselves.
But nothing can ever change for those
who close their eyes to what is."

- Annemarie Postma

If you're looking for a little soul inspiration this Christmas, the above quotes are from two books by public speaker, writer and self-esteem coach Anne Marie Postma - 'The Deeper Secret' and 'The Secret Within'.

...corporate projects

This week has kicked off with a busy stream of projects, including a corporate video with M8 Media and also new work with The Hilton. If you'd like me to voice for your project, find out more via my main website.

Safe Festive Spirits...

Are you getting into the festive spirits? I've just voiced a festive safety campaign by Diageo, Grampian Police, Northern Constabulary and radio stations in the Bauer network. The key messages are plan your post-party journeys in advance to ensure that you get home safely, don't drink and drive, stay safe in winter weather by pre-checking the weather/traffic on your intended route and if your journey isn't necessary, don't set out. Happy Travels!

...a long December!

Deepest winter is now upon us and maybe it's just me but doesn't it seem this is the perfect time of year for beautiful melodies and reflective lyrics...?

"A long December and there's reason to believe
maybe this year will be better than the last...
I can't remember all the times I've tried to tell myself
to hold on to these moments as they pass"
- A Long December

...my clients!

People say the sweetest things! Here's a handful of so-lovely-they're-blush-worthy compliments from my clients and collaborators...

"I have recorded with Vicky over a number of years. She is both a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with. She has a lovely, bright and friendly voice. More over, she’s able to quickly grasp what you’re looking for and deliver – all with good humour and grace. Having used her home studio recently, I can happily say we were very pleased with the results."
Zoë Pearson, Senior Copywriter
The Gate Worldwide

‘Vicky is that very rare commodity… a voice over artist that instinctively understands a script! I’ve recorded about a dozen promos for BBC Radio Scotland with Vicky over the past year and she’s given each and every one of them a little extra something… She’s also lovely to work with!’

Ken Lindsay, Senior Promotions Producer
BBC Radio Scotland

“She’s
versatile, professional and client’s fall in love with her voice – there is only one Vicky Watt”

...Creativity In Education

"What Ted Talks celebrates is the gift of the human imagination,
we have to be careful now that we use this gift wisely...
seeing our creative capacities for the richness
they are and seeing our children for the hope that they are...
and our task is to educate their whole being
so they can face this future."

-
Ken Robinson (Ted Talks)

Monday

...BBC Children In Need

"We provide grants to projects in the UK which focus
on children and young people who are disadvantaged.
We are local to people in all corners of the UK and support
small and large organisations which empower
children and extend their life choices."
- BBC - Children In Need

When is feeling spotty a good thing?
When you're Pudsy Bear of course!! It's that time of year again. I've just voiced a BBC Radio promo for their fabulous fundraising appeal, Children In Need. In alignment with my Ethical Voice philosophy, 50% of my fee (after expenses) is being donated back to the charity. Meanwhile, don't miss BBC coverage of this weekend's fundraising activities across the UK. Find out how you can get involved in fundraising for this year's Children In Need via the BBC website.

...Sustainable Business

"All truth passes through three stages.
First, it is ridiculed.
Second, it is violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as being self-evident."
—Arnold Schopenhauer

Did you have a good weekend? I was working - on a Sunday! It was for a great cause though. I voiced an in-house corporate video for a major international brand. The great part is that the company was promoting the multiple benefits of embracing and pursuing sustainable practices within its own business. There was a time when most business leaders believed sustainable, ethical practices conflicted with the need to make profits for shareholders. Now even main-stream companies are beginning to accept that sustainability is the bottom line. You can find out more about award-winning corporate sustainability initiatives at The Guardian - Sustainable Business.

Join me @ Facebook for more studio shots & regular updates

In the world of voice-over artists there are of course a few key 'tools of the trade'. It's fair to say that while our voice is the most precious asset, one's studio comes a pretty close second! With this in mind, I've just launched a brand new page - In The Studio - which features lots of information about where and how I work. You can also visit via my home page @ www.vickywatt.co.uk Oh - and you can go to my updated Contact page to find me at Voiceovers.Co.Uk, Facebook and LinkedIn.

...perseverance

"When I was about 10 years old and dreaming of going to Africa, living with animals, and writing books about them, everyone laughed at me. World War II was raging across Europe. My family had no money and couldn't even afford a bicycle for me. Africa was far away and full of dangerous animals, and, most damning of all, I was a mere girl. Only boys could expect to do those kinds of things. But my mother said, 'If you really want something and you work hard and you take advantage of opportunities — and you never, ever give up — you will find a way.' The opportunity was a letter from a friend inviting me to Kenya. The hard work was waitressing at a hotel to earn money for the trip — and spending hours reading books about Africa and animals, so I was ready when Dr. Louis Leakey offered me the opportunity to study chimpanzees."

"The most important thing is to actually think about what you do. To become aware and actually think about the effect of what you do on the environment and on society. That's key, and that underlies everything else".

- Jane Goodall

Jane Goodall - now 77 years old - is a ground-breaking primatologist, conservationist, UN Messanger of Peace and tireless campaigner. You can find out more about her work via The Jane Goodall Institute. Watch her eye-opening Ted Talk - here.

...the season

Autumn is a second spring
when every leaf is a flower.
- Albert Camus

Every leaf speaks bliss to me,
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
- Emily Bronte

Following a brief autumn break - or 'fall' as some say - in the highland countryside, I'm back to work at my studio by the sea...

I'm available daily to discuss voice over bookings - TV, radio, narration, in-stores, e-learning, corporate. If you'd prefer a face-to-face session at your chosen studio in the city please just let me know.

Meanwhile, Happy Autumn - hope you get a chance to head out and kick up some leaves!!
