It's really no different from searching for that little black dress...or a sharp new suit. If you're window shopping for the perfect voice to compliment your next project, well, you just have to know where to look! My profiles at both VoiceOvers.co.uk and Voice 123 are now bang up to date. You can also see & hear more at my very own website www.vickywatt.co.uk.

“I never think of myself as an icon.
What is in other people's minds is not in my mind.
I just do my thing.”

- Audrey Hepburn

...daddy day care

Maybe you've seen the film? Now, here comes the reality...

I've just voiced a promo for the upcoming BBC Radio Scotland programme, 'Daddy Day Care'. As we get set for the new laws on extended paternity leave, first time dad David Stenhouse asks whether Scottish men are ready to embrace the opportunity of sharing childcare...? Find out more here.

...cool.

"The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what we share
with someone else when we're uncool".
- Lester Bangs advice to William Miller, Almost Famous

...just another manic Monday?

"Digital technology means that transparency is inevitable. The answer is only doing things you are proud of. It is not enough to simple avoid doing things of which we are not proud, we must also act. We must also stand up for what we believe in, proactively."

..rainy days & mondays

The weather has been a little downbeat today, so James Lowe - my partner, creative collaborator and resident singer-songwriter at our home studio - is finding a way to look on the bright side by sharing a free download from his debut album Radio Friendly. His beautifully melancholy, Falling In is a reflection on starting another rubbish day and finding a way to turn it around in your mind. Just click on this link to James Lowe - Facebook Page, go to Band Profile and download your free song.

STV & BBC...

Yesterday, I was on the west coast at Pacific Quay - Glasgow's media quarter, visiting two of my favourite studios. I voiced a commercial for STV and then headed next door to work on promos for an upcoming programme on BBC Radio Scotland. I love an excuse to visit the city and will joyously zoom into Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen....even London - so don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to book me for a face-to-face voice session.

...idealism.

"There's a certain delusional quality that all successful people have to have. You have to believe that something different than what has happened in the last 50 million years of history can happen....Being realistic is the most commonly travelled road to mediocrity. Why would you be realistic? It's unrealistic to think you can walk into a room and flip a switch and lights come on - fortunately Edison didn't think so." - Will Smith

For a 10 minute shot of positivity on the power of words, thoughts (& actions), via the voice of Will Smith, check out this montage..

learning...

Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.
~Chinese Proverb

Just completed! An e-learning project from my home studio. It's amazing how many nuggets of wisdom a voice artist can pick up from these sessions - it's a free education! Previous work includes narration for Scotland's Colleges, Glasgow City Council, Learning and Teaching Scotland, Scottish Government, Steps for Stress and many more.
