...Peace One Day - 21 September

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

- Margaret Mead

This Wednesday 21st September is Peace Day. Find out more about the day via this Ted Talk by Peace One Day founder, film-maker and activist Jeremy Gilley.

Meanwhile, in one corner of the world, media production company Just Vision is leading by example. They aim to promote peaceful resolutions to conflict by encouraging us all to Pay Attention To Non-Violence. Producer Julia Bacha shares more in this enlightening Ted Talk.

can be influenced, depending on where the international
community chooses to focus its attention"

...Great Debate

"Debate is combat -
but your weapons are words"

- Melvin B Tolson

This quote is taken from the inspirational film - The Great Debaters - based on the true story of the African American Wiley College Debate Team, their coach Melvin B Tolson and his determination to bring them to the debating platform as equals with white people in the American South during the 1930s - when Jim Crow laws were common and lynch mobs were a pervasive fear for African American people. It's a heart-warming Sunday afternoon film! You can view the 2 minute trailer here.
