...walkin' the line.

Just rollin' with the studio theme of the last post, consider this.  If an inspiring young studio owner called Sam Phillips hadn't delivered the speech below - or at least some non Hollywood version of it - to a young Johnny Cash, we might never have known the legendary Man In Black.  Frankly, just the passing thought of missing out on those mean and moody stares, the sexual chemistry with June and foot stomping, yee-haw duets makes me want to Cry, Cry, Cry...

"If you was hit by a truck and you was lying out
there in that gutter dying,
and you had time to sing one song. Huh?
One song that people would remember before you're dirt.
One song that would let God know how you felt
about your time here on Earth.
One song that would sum you up.
You tellin' me that's the song you'd sing?
That same tune we hear on the radio all day,
about your peace within,
and how it's real, and how you're gonna shout it?
Or... would you sing somethin' different.
Somethin' real. Somethin' you felt.
Cause I'm telling you right now,
that's the kind of song people want to hear.
That's the kind of song that truly saves people.
It ain't got nothin to do with believin' in God....
It has to do with believin' in yourself."

 - Sam Philips to Johnny Cash, Walk The Line

...cities/studios/agencies!

What quiet-living coastal girl doesn't love a trip to the big city once in a while?  It's especially fun visiting super-slick studios, producers and working with a top creative agency too!  Later this week, I'm heading to fabulous Finiflex Studios in Edinburgh.  I'll also be recording a project with The Gate Worldwide and then seeking out the finest purveyors of cappuccino - not easy to come by out in the sticks!  All in a day's work....

...insane courage

"You know, sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage.
Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery.
And I promise you, something great will come of it."
- Benjamin Mee (We Bought A Zoo)

...Scotland's Museum of Rural Life

Need a spring break?  Escape to the countryside and take in a breath of fresh air at Scotland's National Museum of Rural Life. I've just voiced a series of ads to promote the museum on Real Radio and it's got me in the moooooooood for going!

...Earth, the pale blue .

I found this thought-provoking short video via Provokateur, one of my favourite ethical communications agencies. It features the voice of astronomer, Carl Sagen.

...perspective.

You are precious and extraordinarily unique.
Your existence as you were, are and will become
is a vital part of the whole.
Your insights are irreplaceable, you see with your eyes
a view that has never been seen before.
You hear with your ears what has never been heard before.
You feel with your heart what has never been felt before.
And with this gift of existence, all you have to do is be yourself.
